The objective of the Investment Group is to support and advance the mission and vision of the Firm. We accomplish this through a set of disciplined steps and processes:
1. Setting client investment policy guidelines and objectives. We work with your client advisors to ensure your needs and goals are met by making investment allocation recommendations across asset buckets, managers and funds.
2. Ongoing monitoring and reporting of portfolios. We stay in contact with your investment managers and fund providers in receiving quarterly updates and commentaries, to gauge whether expectations are met or whether changes would be warranted.
3. Constant development of a “stable” of strategies across all asset classes. We receive correspondence and requests for meetings with investment managers daily. While we cannot read every piece of information we receive or meet with every fund manager who requests it, we selectively review information and meet with managers of high interest if we believe they have the potential to be used in client portfolios. Our goal is to have solutions across all asset classes and buckets of funds / managers that we have high confidence in.
4. Rebalancing portfolios to meet client needs. We work with your client advisors to run and evaluate real-time asset reports to meet cash flow or asset transfer needs, or to invest new cash received. Specifically, we compare current positions with target allocations, trimming oversized positions and/or adding to underweight positions, to accommodate cash needs while resetting weightings back to targets. Everything is bespoke and specific to client needs and preferences.
5. Providing investment content for clients. This includes: a) curating emails or letters to clients covering topics of special interest or in providing our views on extraordinary events that impact markets and portfolios; b) manager/fund summaries that give a brief description of their approach and our views/expectations; and c) formal reports prepared for client meetings, which provide slide updates on the markets, our outlook, and client-specific asset and performance summaries.
6. Continually building a content database online with our meeting notes and comments on discussions with fund managers or other industry subject matter experts, along with their insightful content. We also utilize industry-leading databases and analytical tools to ensure adequate coverage of fund managers and industry research that covers all asset classes. Our subscriptions cover all publicly traded mutual funds, ETFs, equities, most separate account managers and tens of thousands of private asset strategies across private equity, venture capital, real estate and specialty asset classes. In addition to historical data and analytical tools for making comparisons, performing calculations and viewing alternatives, these subscriptions also include third-party independent due diligence notes and opinions, giving us another set of expert eyes in our research process.
